Pody Handbook 6: Data Ownership — What Pody Does & Doesn't
6. Data Ownership
Quick answer: Your podcast is yours. Your analytics data is yours. Your RSS feed is yours. Your audio file is yours. Pody is a service provider, not the owner. What we do with your data: store, distribute on your instruction, analyze in aggregate. What we don't do: sell, share with third parties, train AI models on your content, or retain after you request deletion.
The audio file
The file you upload is fully yours. We store on your behalf, distribute on your instruction, back up to archive.org. If you request deletion — we delete from R2 (Cloudflare) within 24 hours. The archive.org item persists in the archive forever unless a manual request from the original user, then removed within 7 days.
The RSS feed
The RSS feed publishes under Pody's domain, but represents your podcast. At any time you can: (1) download full XML copy, (2) migrate the feed to another platform, (3) request that DNS point to your domain instead of pody.io. We won't lock you in.
AI training
We don't train AI models on your content. Our rsl.txt (https://pody.io/rsl.txt) declares it explicitly: ai-training: disallowed. If this changes, we'll give 90 days notice and you'll have opportunity to remove your content.
Account deletion
Request via aviv@pody.io or account settings (/profile). Account deletion = all files deleted from R2 + RSS feed removed from Pody domain within 7 days. The archive.org item persists (it's global community property) unless a manual request to delete, then 7 additional business days.
Laws that govern us
- Israeli Privacy Protection Law 1981 + information security regulations
- GDPR (for European podcasters) — access and deletion rights within 30 days
- Copyright law — we maintain DMCA notice procedure
You've finished the Handbook. 6 chapters, ~6K words, complete transparency. If something isn't clear — aviv@pody.io.
